Kabbalah (Hebrew קַבָּלָה, Tiberian qabːɔˈlɔh, Qabbālāh) literally means “receiving”, sometimes transliterated as Cabala, Kabbala, Kabbalah, Qabalah or otherwise. Kabbalah is an esoteric direction imbued with mysticism, or a Jewish philosophical and religious teaching imbued with an occult interpretation, according to which the world was created from ten divine beings. The term Kabbalah itself is often associated with the concepts of mystery or incomprehensibility.
The modern Kabbalist Baal HaSulam gave the following definition of the wisdom of the Kabbalah: this wisdom is nothing more and nothing less than a succession of roots, which develop downwards on the principle of cause and effect based on immutable and precise rules, and intertwine into a single and sublime goal which can be described as “The Revelation of His Divinity to His creatures in this world.”
